Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity

foreo-bear-vs-nuface-trinity

The Foreo Bear and NuFace Trinity are two beauty devices that operate through the use of microcurrents: Small electrical charges that revitalize the texture of skin muscles. The Bear is compact and has app compatibility, while the Trinity counts with fewer features but feels considerably softer on your skin.

Wrinkles and sagging are an issue we all will have to deal with eventually, some of us already do. But something that I love about our current times is just how many alternatives there are to tackle these problems. There's no shortage of beauty products out there, you know, I know it, and the companies sure know it. But some have to be a cut above the competition right?

I started to research more on microcurrents after a particularly positive experience with them, and that's why today I'd like to introduce you to two of the most popular devices that use microcurrents. On one hand, we have the Foreo Bear, a cute and compact device that is quite appropriately bear-shaped. On the other, we have the NuFace Trinity a bulkier machine that drops the cute design but allows you to purchase additional attachments based on your needs. They both have the same principles behind them, but only one of them can win this Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity match. So keep reading and I'll let you know all I found out.

All About the Foreo Bear

The Foreo Bear is an interesting package from the very first minute you get it. Packed in each box is one Foreo Bear device with its particular shape and in vibrant pink, it is kind of adorable, to be honest. On top of that, you have a stand which is great given the round shape of the device; a pouch to carry your Bear around, a serum for your face, and a simple USB charger. The charger is the weakest part by far, it's not a cradle and just plugs directly into the device. It's not quite unbearable, but it's very simple for a high-end beauty product.

There are two ways to go about the application, and it depends on whether you use the app or not. With the app, you can change power settings at a faster pace and even program them to a degree. However, the app does require you to share a lot of information, which will be a major issue for a lot of people. If you don't use the app you can set the Bear with its buttons though this will take longer.

Before starting you need to apply a gel or serum on your face, as is the case with all microcurrent devices. And the Bear comes with a... tiny sample of their brand serum. It's okay, nothing special, but it will run out in seconds, so you'll need to have another gel at hand for more uses. Once that is done all you have is to press it on your face on specific areas and repeat the process daily. The Bear claims to have an Anti-Shock System to control its electricity output... but it feels more like a guaranteed shock system. It almost always stings at first and then starts to feel more subdued. It's a really weird way to go about it in all honesty, not a big fan of how that works.

All About the NuFace Trinity

The NuFace Trinity is much more straightforward in what it packs, but I also prefer its presentation in various ways. The NuFace Trinity has a bulbous shape that can be slightly awkward to use, and it also comes packaged solely with a bottle of Gel Primer and a Charging Cradle. But it's 59ml instead of 2, and I prefer to have a dedicated cradle for any device I'm likely to leave in my bathroom.

The gel is once again nothing special, but it's fluid enough and feels good on my skin. Setting up the Trinity is easy as well since it has clear "+" and "-" buttons, so you can easily find your desired intensity. Once it's on all you need to do is to apply it to the specified areas and make a habit out of it. The Trinity makes the skin feel tingly, but I didn't have that distinct shocking sensation. The current feels more stable overall, and the treatment is a snap.

How Do Microcurrents Work?

Have you ever seen those ads that tell you to lose fat with electricity? The idea with microcurrents is similar. Microcurrents are light electrical charges that specifically target the muscles in our skin. So if I treat myself with microcurrents my skin muscles will be stronger and more developed. When this happens my skin will rise and tighten, which makes it a wonderful anti-aging treatment.

The basic principle does work, and it's used in a lot of successful beauty treatments. As such on paper, both the Bear and Trinity should offer great results, but it all comes down to the quality of each machine at the end of the day.

Pros and Cons

Let's go once again over every pro and con these two machines pack so we can reach a conclusion in our Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity matchup.

Foreo Bear Pros

  • It's a super-compact device.
  • The integrated app is really handy.
  • It's super portable, so it's easy to bring it with you on your travels.
  • It's admittedly adorable.

Foreo Bear Cons

  • It's awkward to change intensities without the app.
  • You will need to buy more gel on your own.
  • Has no dedicated charging base.
  • It shocks you all the time.

NuFace Trinity Pros

  • Easy to set up.
  • Has a dedicated charging cradle.
  • It feels great on your skin.
  • Comes with more gel.

NuFace Trinity Cons

  • The shape is kinda awkward.
  • While there are add-ons none of them come with the default package.

Let's Sum It Up

Since both the Bear and Trinity use the same technology and are almost the same price ($299 vs $339) it comes down to which one offers the best user experience. The Bear is super handy and compact, which makes it a great traveling companion. But it comes with less gel out of the gate, so that's an extra expense. And no matter how much I fiddled with it I couldn't get it to stop shocking my skin.

On the other hand, the Trinity is incredibly straightforward. It has no real tricks to speak of, but the treatment is simply comfortable. The intensity is just right, there's enough gel to last a while and I never felt zapped. Plus now that I've been using both of them for a while I can tell microcurrents do work, even if it's not an immediate result. So when it comes to the Foreo Bear vs NuFace Trinity I have to give the edge to the Trinity. It has no tricks under its sleeves, but the user experience is just amazing.
